Connaissances et comportements des jeunes de 18 à 24 ans des Bouches-du-Rhône face aux Infections Sexuellement Transmissibles et à l’utilisation des préservatifs masculins et féminins

Abstract : Background: In France, despite the existing prevention methods, there has been an almost constant increase in Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) since the 2000s, which now pose a public health problem. In addition, a decrease in the use of condoms has been observed in recent years. Young people are particularly concerned and the PACA region is the 2nd most affected region in France. Objectives: To assess the state of knowledge on STIs and prevention methods and to identify the modalities of male and female condom use in order to analyse the brakes and levers on the use of male and female condoms among young people aged 18 to 24 in the Bouches-du-Rhône. Study design : Quantitative, descriptive and prospective study, based on a questionnaire distributed on social networks among 18- to 24-year-olds in the Bouches-du-Rhône. Results: This study revealed a lack of knowledge about STIs and prevention methods among young people, as well as an often conscious risk-taking among young people who feel low vulnerability to STIs. It also identified some barriers and levers to the use of male and female condoms among young people, which could improve access to prevention activities.
