Blanchité, égalité, fragilité : se confronter à la race en master d'études de genre appliquées au sport: Entre questionnements, déni de l’oppression et stratégies de rétablissement de l’équilibre racial

Abstract : In a racialized society where structural racism permeates all social, political, economic and sports spheres, oppression remains active within the university. Despite that a university training aims to tackle inequalities and discriminations, the very people who work on it and for it may find themselves conveying stereotypes and oppressing others, as part of the larger system of structural racism. This study shows that most participants have witnessed at least once a case of racial discrimination. Those might come from student –especially via humor–, speakers, teachers or some visiting lecturers. Some education needs to be done to urge the participants to analyze where in the social hierarchy they are located and what they could represent and how they could be oppressive. Having speakers for whom race is at the center of their research seems to be one of the best ways to initiate such thought process.
