Validation d'une nouvelle méthode de raisonnement de la fertilisation azotée sur blé tendre d'hiver

Abstract : Following the work of Clémence Ravier in 2017, a new reasoning for fertilization of winter wheat appeared to overcome the limits of the balance sheet method. This new way, the integral management, is based on the adaptation of the inputs to the needs of the plant by monitoring the nitrogen status of plants throughout the year. The purpose of this management is to limit the impact of fertilization on the environment while preserving the same level of yield. Thanks to this work, INRAE and Arvalis developed two new methods: APPI-N and CHN. APPI-N is based on INN measures thanks to a N-Tester while CHN works through modelisation. This report presents the follow-up of the trial carried out by the Axéréal cooperative in 2020 as well as the results of the trials carried out over the previous two years. It appears that the APPI-N and CHN methods are characterized by a lower quantity of nitrogen used as well as by later inputs. After three years of trials, these methods could be tested 5 times by the cooperative under different pedoclimatic conditions. The results of these trials show that progress remains to be made in terms of productivity and economic performance. But they are more respectful of the environment thanks to their better use of fertilizer and a lower total quantity. Adjustments must therefore be made, and the study should continue with other crops. These methods will then have to be adapted for use by farmers.
