Le potentiel de développement de l'agriculture biologique et d'adaptation au changement climatique du territoire Loire et Affluents Vellaves

Abstract : Organic agriculture (OA) is now recognized as a production method that is beneficial to the preservation of water resources. Its development is therefore often encouraged in policies to achieve good water status, implemented through territorial contracts such as the Loire and Vellaves tributaries. The role of OA in climate change mitigation is controversial and the adaptation of its practices, which is concrete on the field, is still poorly documented. This dissertation explores the construction of a territorial strategy for the development of OA and adaptation to climate change in the territory. It is first of all a question of making an inventory of the favourable and unfavourable factors for the development of OA and agricultural practices for adaptation to climate change. The main levers concern the large proportion of forage-based systems, or the expansion of proximity circuits. However, the evolution of dairy production systems or the lack of coordination of the sectors with upstream hamper development. The main adaptations concern multiple themes such as diversification, fodder self-sufficiency or soil conservation. Sensitivity to OA values is identified as a favourable factor for changing practices. The place of OA in the adaptation of agriculture to climate change and therefore the development strategy of OA employed by Haute-Loire Bio in coordination with the various actors in the area are discussed.
