Vraisemblable, vraisemblance et vérités dans les récits et journaux intimes du ghetto juif de Łódź

Abstract : How to tell what cannot be heard? The horror experienced by the oppressed populations during the Nazi occupation is difficult to describe, even more difficult to accept. Writing while the oppressor is trying to destroy all their people allows the Jews in the ghettos to resist in their own way this destructive intent. Creating a testimony is a way of leaving a trace for posterity, which will then be able to remember their fate and keep their memory alive. The diaries left by the ghetto inhabitants have long been passed over in silence. In the same way, fictional narratives are accused by revisionist discourses of being implausible and of further amplifying the suffering experienced by the Jews. Some even go so far as to deny the existence of the gas chambers. The identity of the victims is erased by the massification of the oppressed victims. This work proposes to consider the words of the inhabitants of the Polish ghetto at Łódź through the study of a diary and three fictional works. The angle approached is that of the transmission of testimony. How does the fictional narrative take over from the raw testimony constituted by the diary? These testimonial writings transmit new stories for History and make it possible to constitute a chain of points of view that gives an all-encompassing vision of what life in the ghettos was like. These testimonies constitute a set of truths that are to be considered as a dialogue of several realities that complement each other. Through this networking, a new History appears, that of the anonymous people who died without a grave and who will never be remembered.
