Éducation thérapeutique de la personne en situation d’obésité et rôle du pharmacien d’officine

Abstract : Obesity is a chronic disease. It is a complex pathology that requires multidisciplinary care: food rebalancing, adapted physical activity and psychological monitoring. In this context, Patient Education is a particularly relevant approach. The patient becomes active: Patient Education allows you to focus on his needs and expectations in order to improve his life’s quality. The patient will acquire skills on his pathology, thus allowing him to live his situation better on a daily basis. This research work includes an example of a Patient Education program on obesity in Normandy led by Planeth Patient. The pharmacist is the most accessible healthcare professional for patients. As such, he has his place in supporting the patient in obesity, this Patient Education mission having been assigned to him by the French HPST law ("Hospital, Patients, Health and Territories") of 2009. However, the lack of time and remuneration can make the practice of Patient Education difficult to implement at the community pharmacy. As an answer to this problem, this work proposes a brief intervention protocol applicable to the counter at the community pharmacy. Using open-ended questions, the pharmacist will be able to advise the patient, offer appropriate assistance and organize personalized follow-up.
