Evaluation en langue première chez des enfants allophones scolarisés en moyenne section de maternelle lors du bilan de santé des 3-4 ans

Abstract : The objective of our study was to assist school doctor in the detection of primary oral language disorder in allophone and/or newly-arrived 4 years old children attending kindergarten. Our population was recruited from 7 schools in the Bordeaux area. All the children corresponded to profile 3 or "delay" on the ERTL 4 test. The protocol consisted of assessing each child in his first language using the « ELAL D’Avicenne » and filling in a questionnaire with the parents on their child's language background in the presence of an interpreter. Our study has shown, in agreement with the literature, that while first language assessment in allophone children in middle kindergarten is relevant in the context of screening for a language disorder, it is not sufficient to determine referral to a speech therapist. Indeed, the particularities linked to a migrant population must commit professionals (medical, paramedical, psychologists, teachers) to work in a network in order to evaluate together the consequences of migration, particularly on language development.
