Les innovations, en termes de diagnostic, traitements et prise en charge non médicamenteuse, des patients atteints de polyarthrite rhumatoïde

Abstract : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic inflammatory autoimmune disease that affects the joints and can affect other organs. It is the most common chronic inflammatory rheumatism affecting around 300,000 patients in France. Today, despite advances in knowledge, the precise origin of this multifactorial disease remains unknown. Over the past 20 years, the management of RA has evolved a lot, in particular thanks to the arrival of biotherapy which has improved the quality of life of patients, and clinical remission. However, problems related to diagnosis, treatment and non-drug management persist, requiring innovative solutions. Indeed, the diagnosis, which is clinical / biological / radiological, remains difficult to make and is the cause of a delay in effective management. Regarding treatments: each year, 20 to 25% of patients on biotherapies escape these, resulting in a change in therapy. The development of a vast therapeutic arsenal is necessary in order to treat as many patients as possible. Even if these therapeutic advances have made it possible to reduce certain direct and indirect costs associated with RA, the cost of biotherapies is not negligible: a patient treated with biotherapy costs 3 times more expensive than a patient under synthetic treatment. The arrival of biosimilars and new synthetic drugs (anti-JAK) could allow efficient care and lower costs. RA disrupts the daily lives of patients who are still seeking recognition of their disease, information and an improvement in their relationship with their doctor. To help them new initiatives are being developed by the public authorities, associations and patients and pharmaceutical laboratories.
