Apprendre l'anglais par le jeu au cycle 2 ?

Abstract : This scientific textis based on a precise question: how can we use games while teaching English, and what real impact these games may have on the children’s knowledge/acquisitions ? Could playing games be a benefit in the process of learning english as a foreign language ? The first part of the text deals with how to learn english froma didactic and institutional point of view. Then, the various definitions of what a game can be in relation to children pedagogical developmentwill be studied. Finally, we’ll propose different children’s play materials used to teach english. We will suggest two hypotheses that our sequence will try to verify : playingis a source of motivation, as a first contact, and it enables to memorise vocabulary thanks to language interactions. The second part is describing the methodology chosen : a sequence of five sessions concerning family vocabulary through different games : short scenes, flashcards, a board game, dices, the royal family tree, a Bingo card and the «happy families » game. After having studied the results, mainly charts, we will discuss the problem of rare limits, and we’ll imagine a few new solutions.
