Abstract : The healing process of bone and soft tissue is one of the most complex mechanisms among the vital functions of living tissue. The scarring of these tissues has, for decades, always been at the center of new biotechnological research.
Going through the adhesives of autologous fibrins in the 80s, then the appearance of platelet concentrates called PRP in the 90s, it is in 2001 that is perfected, in Nice by Dr.Joseph Choukroun,, a brand new protocol of fibrin concentrates called PRF (Fibrin Rich in Platelet). The blood is then collected in tubes without anticoagulant (heparin, EDTA, bovine thrombin, calcium chloride, etc.) and immediately centrifuged. PRF technology continues to evolve, and new centrifugation protocols comes into being, improving the biological properties of biomaterials: APRF+ in 2016, I-PRF in 2017 and finally S-PRF in 2019.
The aim of this thesis, in the first part, is to introduce the fibrin concentrates that can be used in daily practice by describing in detail its role and how its multiple components interact with each other. Then, in a second step, the protocols for the development of the different PRF and their clinical applications are detailed in order to conceptualize educational sheets, from blood sampling to the design of the concentrate, which can be made available to dental surgery students during their clinical studies.
