Évaluation des freins et propositions de pistes d’amélioration dans le cadre du dépistage des troubles audiovisuels chez l’enfant d’âge préscolaire

Abstract : Introduction: visual and hearing disorders in children are relatively common. A visual or hearing impairment, whatever its nature or severity, is likely to affect the child’s development. The treatment of these disorders is all the more effective when it is early, justifying screening of sensory disorders as early as possible.
Material and method: during our qualitative study with eleven general practitioners from the Alpes Maritimes and Var department, we were able to collect, through semi-structured interviews, the doctors’ feelings on the screening for hearing and visual disorders in order to suggest measures for improvement.
Results: our study has proved that the main obstacle to screening is the lack of knowledge and training on this subject. The interviewed doctors felt that it took a lot of time to spend in consultation. In addition, regarding the tools to use, the sensorybaby case is not known by all general practitioners and when it is known, the tools are not seized.
Discussion: The identification of these main brakes made it possible to suggest measures for improvement. The feeling of low profitability of preventive acts compared to the high cost of the sensory baby case could be offset by the dissemination of information on the existence of the possible financing of the 2 acts, 100% coverage could be an additional help. The main obstacle being the lack of training, we were able to create a training tool. The distribution of short videos on the various tests possible in consultation could help to dispel the apprehension of consultation time but also of training, this shows that the tests are completely actually achievable in general medicine, moreover, they can be viewed at home or at work. The face-to-face training on January 26, 2021 will allow us to apply the tools with presentation of the case. The efficiency of the various training tools should then be evaluated by evaluating any changes in practice six months after the training.
