Prise en charge de l’aplasie vaginale chez des patientes atteintes de MRKH (Mayer Rokitansky Küster Hauser) par la méthode de Frank : durée de traitement nécessaire

Abstract : The treatment of vaginal aplasia in patients suffering from MRKH syndrome is primarily based the Frank method: lengthening of the vaginal cupule using vaginal dilators. The efficiency of that treatment has been proven but the duration required to obtain a satisfying result is poorly documented. We have realized a retrospective and observational mono-centered study to define the required duration of treatment. The median duration of treatment for the 39 patients treated using the Frank method was 168 days or 5.5 months (ranging from 1.6 to 58.8 months). The frequency of the dilation sessions appears to be one of the decisive technical factors (ideally 3 sessions per day). Obtaining a sufficient compliance of the patients is an important obstacle, which requires adequate information, a consistent follow-up and a psychological care.
