Impact et acceptabilité de l'ordonnance de non prescription d'antibiotique auprès des patients

Abstract : Introduction: Overconsumption and misuse of antibiotics (ATB) are contributing to the development of antimicrobial resistance, which is now a global public health problem. The prescription for non-prescription (ONP) is one of the tools aimed at reducing ATB consumption. This is a patient information sheet, delivered in a prescription format, which explains the reasons why the doctor is not prescribing an antibiotic. The objective was to assess the impact of the ONP on patients' knowledge of ATB and its acceptability. Method: Quantitative study for descriptive and evaluative purposes, carried out by questionnaires with patients to assess their knowledge before and after delivery of the ONP in general practitioner offices in Calvados, between January and February 2020. Results: A total of 201 questionnaires were collected, 173 were included, including 107 patients who received the ONP. The knowledge score on ATB went from 4,6/8 to 5,8/8 after delivery of the ONP, an increase of + 1.1/8 [95% CI + 0.8- + 1.5], p <10-3. Patient satisfaction with not receiving ATB was on average 9.1/10 and satisfaction with receiving written information was on average 9.0/10. Conclusion: The ONP improved patients' knowledge of ATB and they were satisfied to receive it. This is an educational tool that should be promoted to general practitioners. Additional studies are needed to find out if the ONP is reducing the number of ATB prescriptions.
