La professionnalisation des étudiants de STS du domaine des biotechnologies

Abstract : The « Brevet de Technicien supérieur » equivalent to the Business Technician Education Council (BTEC) is a French professional diploma that attracts technological and professional graduate students. At the end of their training, these students have preferred continuing the job of technician. However, for several years, the students prefer to continue their studies. First, the profile of the students was analyzed. The study focuses on the future of two types of student: those trained in “Medical Biology Analysis” and those trained in “Water professions». In a second part, these two trainings were analyzed through their professional activities benchmarks and their certification benchmarks. These institutional expectations were confronted to professional expectations. In conclusion, the students continue their trainings mainly in order to obtain a higher degree integrated into the DML system and not in order to increase their employment rate. Two modifications of the STS were proposed: to develop more work-study BTS and to increase/upgrade the BTS diploma as/to a License degree level.
