Élaboration d’un consensus sur les compétences addictologiques minimales à acquérir en troisième cycle de médecine générale pour l’alcool et le tabac : méthode DELPHI

Abstract : Introduction: alcohol and tobacco consumption is a major public health issue in France. The training of future general practitioners concerning addictions is currently disparate and seems insufficient. The objective of this work was to establish a list of expected roles of general practitioners and of teaching items to be delivered to postgraduate students in general medicine, for teaching addictology in primary care. Methods: a Delphi methodology was conducted on the basis of a review of the recommendations and practice tools for general practitioners. 35 experts, university and non-university general practitioners, university and non-university addictologists, were recruited. The objective was to establish a list of expected roles of the general practitioner and of teaching items to be delivered to postgraduate students in general medicine, for the teaching of addictology in primary care. Results: consensus was reached after two rounds of consultation. 25 experts participated in the first round (71%), 23 experts in the second and third rounds (66%). Concerning the “roles of the general practitioner” procedure, 32 items reached consensus, out of 39 initially proposed. Concerning the “teaching to be delivered” procedure, 41 items reached consensus, out of the 53 initially proposed. Conclusion: the item lists will serve as the basis for a second work, wich objective will be to assess the effectiveness of a training module according to the objectives resulting from the consensus, by relying on a teaching method centered on teaching.
