Représentation sociale de la sage-femme face au suivi gynécologique des jeunes filles nullipares

Abstract : For a few years, midwives gynecological skills have increased and medical demography has declined. Besides, young girls often seem confused about their reproductive health care path. As a result, teenage girls are not eager to consult midwives for their gynecological follow-up. Objective Our goal was to compare the social representations of the midwife in both populations in order to determine a way to improve their meeting. Methods A qualitative mirror study was conducted through semi-structured interviews with midwives and high school girls. Results and conclusion The representations of the midwife do not overlap in our two populations. The meeting between these two populations remains shy and limited. The brakes at this meeting mainly come from young girls and the emotional dependence on their mother, who seem be unaware of the midwives gynecological skills. Professionals face difficulties with the rights of prescription and the relationships with gynecologists which can indirectly impact on the patients' representations. Sexual education dispensed by midwives in high school could be helpful to standardize the image of the midwife in teenagers mind.
