La prise en charge de la femme enceinte végétarienne

Abstract : Objective To assess the practice of midwives regarding vegetarian pregnant women. Methods The study was conducted with questionnaire witch was send to midwives who work in hospital and in there own office in every county in metropolitan France. The questionnaire had one clinical exercice about a vegetarian pregnant woman. An overview of the professional practice has been conducted by putting in place a survey regarding a clinical exercice about a vegetarian pregnant woman. This questionnaire has been sent to midwives working in hospital or as independent in every region of mainland France. Results and conclusion 540 questionnaires has been analyzed to understand how vegetarian women are taken in charge by the midwives. 57% of the midwives answering the survey don’t give a specific recommandation of eating meat or fish. They prescribe an additional blood test in 39% of the cases and a specific treatment in 24% of the cases because of the patient being vegetarian. 73% of the midwives think vegetarism is appropriate for pregnancy.
