Évaluation de l'impact d'une brochure d'information sur le temps d'exposition aux écrans des enfants âgés de 6 mois à 6 ans

Abstract : Introduction. We measured the impact of an information leaflet delivered in General Practitioner's consultation, on children’s screen time exposure and on their characteristics of utilisation at home. Patients and methods. The studied population was children from 6 months to 6 years. 2 surveys were distributed one month apart. The first was given in general medicine consultation with the information leaflet. The second was sent by email. Results. 252 patients were included. 145 of them answered the 2 surveys. There were no significant difference of children’s time exposure between before and after prevention. However, our study permitted to observe screens uses at home and the impact of a written information on the subject. Discussion. The increase of digital technology these last years is considerable. Screen’s responsibility on lower brain development of children is underestimated by parents. Prevention by information leaflet is insufficient. Conclusion. Improving prevention is essential and represents today a public health stake. An oral information joined to the written one may be a more efficient method, and could be the fact of an ulterior study.
