Les effets des pratiques corporelles en classe sur l’attention des élèves et la posture de l’enseignant

Abstract : During class, more and more pupils wag, which affects their attention. Faced with this difficulty, teachers are tense and have problems with managing their groups. The aim of this report is to assess how motor-activities in class affect pupils’ attention and teachers’ postures. Therefore, we asked ourselves how engaging pupils' motor-activities in class can benefits their attention, improve their learning abilities and guide teachers towards a better class management? To answer this question, we drew hypotheses from our researches. The first hypothesis suggests that implementing motor-activities improves pupils’ attention. The second one highlights the idea that such practices allow teachers to create a more serene atmosphere for their class. To verify these hypotheses, we carried out a field survey with a preschool and a first-grade classes. We also conduct a self-administered questionnaire intended for teachers. This made it possible to compare the results of our survey with those of teachers who have also implemented such activities in their classes. The results of the survey confirm that motor-activities foster pupils’ attention and contribute to soothe the classroom’s environment. Further researches and experiments should make it possible to reinforce this teaching method in class to transform it into a real “class culture”.
