La modalité en anglais : vers une meilleure méthode d’apprentissage des auxiliaires modaux en cycle 4.

Abstract : This dissertation deals with the learning and teaching process of modality for secondary school students. It especially deals with the study and understanding of modal auxiliaries’ learning processes with secondary school students. In the curriculum of secondary school, modal auxiliaries are an important part of the learning process. That is why we have decided to study the modals that we consider as “essentials”, that is to say, the five most studied modals in language classes: can, must, will, may, shall. During our experimentation, it appeared that working on modality in context with 5th grade students could enable a better understanding. Thus, in the practical part of our dissertation, we decided to focus especially on three modals which seemed to be the most relevant to study with our students, i.e.: can, must and will.
