Étude tardive par questionnaires de la qualité de vie, de la dysphonie et de la dyspnée de patients présentant une paralysie laryngée bilatérale et ayant bénéficié d’une réinnervation laryngée

Abstract : Objective : The purpose of this study is to carry out a post-operative assessment of the results of bilateral selective laryngeal reinnervation in patients who have undergone surgery within Rouen hospital. The first objective was to determine the correlations between the scores obtained in the phonation, breathing and quality of life self-questionnaires. The second objective was to determine the correlations between the subjective scores of the questionnaires and the objective post-operative measures. Method : 83 patients who received selective bilateral reinnervation were contacted to fill in self-administered questionnaires assessing their post-operative phonation, breathing and quality of life. The scores of these questionnaires were correlated with the objective post-operative measurements. Results : 55 patients responded to the sent questionnaires : 53 initially had bilateral vocal fold paralysis in adduction and 2 bilateral paralysis in abduction. 96 % of the patients who responded to the questionnaires said they were satisfied with the results of selective laryngeal reinnervation. For our first objective, we observe significant correlations between the scores obtained in the phonation questionnaire (VHI-10), the breathing questionnaire (DSI) and the quality of life questionnaire (MOS SF-36). For our 2nd objective, some questionnaires are significantly correlated with objective measurements (VHI-10 and GRBASI, DSI and MPT, DSI and walk test), while others are not correlated (VHI and MPT, DSI and VIMS, DSI and PDI). Conclusion : Phonation, breathing and quality of life self-questionnaires are of great importance in the assessment of the disability experienced by patients who have benefited from a bilateral selective reinnervation. These questionnaires, in correlation with the objective measures, make it possible to understand better the results of this operation. The use of the pre-operative quality of life questionnaire and the inclusion of a speech therapist in the care of these patients could be relevant therapeutic ways.
