Connaissance de l’anatomie féminine, une étude descriptive et comparative selon le niveau d’étude

Abstract : Knowledge of female anatomy, a descriptive and comparative study by level of education. Objective: We sought to evaluate an association between the level of education and knowledge of female OGE. The hypothesis was: long studies favour a better knowledge. Secondly, we looked for an association between knowledge and the existence of a gynecological follow-up and/or perineal rehabilitation. Method: We carried out a mono-centric comparative quantitative study via an anonymous questionnaire. Women of legal age and consulting at the CPP of Aix-les-Bains were asked to answer a questionnaire listing several useful parameters and then to caption a diagram using anatomical terms. The existence of an association between the score obtained and the level of study constituted our main criterion of judgment. The frequency of unplaced legends was our primary secondary endpoint. The second secondary criterion was to assess the impact of gynecological follow-up and perineal rehabilitation. One hundred and thirty-four questionnaires were analyzed. Results: Out of 134 women, 36 had perfect knowledge of their anatomy (28.6%) and 120 had "good" knowledge (89.5%). The average score was 11.3/14. No association was found between the level of education and better knowledge. Our study did not show an association between knowledge of anatomy and the existence of a gynecological follow-up but the existence of a perineal rehabilitation seemed to be associated with a better knowledge. Conclusion: The knowledge of women consulting the CPP of Aix-les-Bains was considered good. The school and health professionals have a role to play in patient education and the use of materials could improve this knowledge.
