Influence de l’accouchement dans l’eau sur la durée de la phase active du premier stade du travail

Abstract : Objectives: The objective of our work was to deternine the influence of waterbirth on the duration of the first stage of labour as well as on the duration of the second stage of labour. Methods: We conducted a single-center retrospective epidemiological cohort study. We inclued patients who gave birth without an epidural from the first january 2018 to the 31st december 2019 in the Saint-Julien-en-Genevois maternity unit. Two groups were formed : the group of women who gave birth in water and the group of women who gave birth out of water. Results: One hundred and ninety-eight patients were included : 98 in the waterbirth group and 105 in the birth out of water group. A statistically difference appeared regarding parity which doesn’t make our two studied groups comparable. The duration of the the first stage of labor was not statistically different between both studied groups (p=0.469). The duration of the second stage of labour was also not statistically different beteween both studied groups (p=0,773). Conclusion: Our study couldn’t statistically significantly affirm the influence of waterbirth on the duration of the first stage of labour or on the duration of the second stage of labour compared to birth out of water.
