Médiatisation du suivi gynécologique de prévention réalisé par les sages-femmes

Abstract : Introduction and objectives: there is a lack of knowledge about the midwife gynecological expertise in the general population. The objective of the study is to understand the role played by medias in this lack of communication and identify which are the media parameters able to bring women to reconsider midwives’ skills looking to them for their gynecological monitoring. Methods: sixteen interviews were conducted with healthy nulliparous women who had never met midwives in their life, from October 2020 to April 2021. Results: after having read the different medias, women regret to have not been aware of the gynecological expertise of midwives sooner. This lack of information develops the desire to know better this profession, but they also realize that the woman gynecological health prevention is not first priority in medias. More precisions in the dissemination of information in this area and the good choice of media parameters are two important necessities for a best communication and a midwife gynecological skill upgrading. Conclusion: choosing in relevant way the form and the content of medias dealing with the gynecological monitoring realized by midwives, we enhance the prevention, the women healthcare access, and the collective vision of the midwife. Thus, women could consider the midwife as a professional of primary care in gynecology.
