Efficacité du relâchement myofascial sur la douleur chez les patients atteints de lombalgie chronique non spécifique

Abstract : Context: In France, nearly one person out of two has had low back pain for at least once a day, and for some of them it will become a chronic pain. This represents about 7% of low back pain, however its management requires special attention because it can lead to significant functional disability and isolation. Several treatments exist with different degrees of effectiveness. Objectives: The objective of this literature review is to study the effectiveness of myofascial relaxation in the management of chronic nonspecific low back pain. Method: After investigating the various Pubmed, Cochrane, Pedro, Lissa, Kinédoc databases, 5 articles were selected, all of which are randomized clinical trials composed of men and women between 18 and 60 years old, in order to respond to the better at the clinical question asked. Results: It appears that the effect of myofascial release on pain is in favour of an improvement in pain in 4 of the 5 articles presented in this review. With regard to functional disability, the results are more mixed and do not allow us to state with certainty the effectiveness of the treatment. Conclusion: the studies presented in this review present different levels of methodological quality. Fasciatherapy is a rapidly emerging science and there are still too few studies in the management of chronic low back pain. We must remain cautious about the conclusions of this review which presents several biases. In the future, better quality reviews or meta-analyses should emerge in the literature in order to have higher levels of evidence.
