Physiologie de la hanche et du genou : facteurs de risque pour le syndrome de l'essuie-glace chez le coureur de fond ?

Abstract : Introduction: IIiotibial band syndrome is one of the most common injuries among runners. This syndrome is the cause of lateral knee pain leading to the cessation of physical activity. Objective: The purpose of this revue of literature scientific is to analyse and study if a difference in the physiology at the muscular and articular level of the hip and the knee is a risk factor for the iliotibial band syndrome in the runner. Research methodology: Three databases were used: Pubmed, Cochrane library and Kinédoc. This research was carried out between August and October 2020 and covered all articles likely to analyze and highlight the risk of developing iliotibial band syndrome. Four articles were included for this review. The studies used are cohort and cross-sectional studies Results and analysis: After analysis of the four articles, several risk factors were identified. At the muscular level, we find a deficit of the external rotator muscles and at the articular level, we find increased internal rotation of the hip and increases internal rotation and adduction of the knee. Other factors have been found such as an increase in hip adduction but they need to be better analysed and studied because we find contradictory results. Discussion: All of these risk factors analysed have an important capital for the prevention and treatment of iliotibial band syndrome and should be taken into account. Nevertheless, it is necessary that future study the precise link between each of the risk factors and the onset of iliotibial band syndrome.
