Étude de viabilité de la méthode 5A auprès des femmes enceintes fumeuses ayant bénéficié d’un accompagnement 5A-QUIT-N pendant leur grossesse

Abstract : Introduction: with a prevalence ranging from 20 to 25% depending on the region in France, smoking during pregnancy remains a major public health issue. Our thesis aims to study the viability of the 5A model amongst pregnant smokers who received 5A-QUIT-N support during their pregnancy. Method: this is a qualitative study with thematic analysis of semi-directed interviews conducted with 17 pregnant smokers who gave birth at the Arcachon maternity hospital and were recruited from January to March 2021. This study was conducted with a triangulation of researchers. Thematic analysis of the results has been carried out. Chen defines in an article the concept of viability of an intervention program according to five criteria: practical, affordable, suitable, evaluable, and helpful. The main objective was to evaluate the obstacles and incentives to the 5A model viability amongst women who had benefited from it during their pregnancy. Results: there is a need and an interest for the 5A model amongst pregnant smokers. From the patient view, there doesn't seem to be any major obstacles when it comes to the project's accessibility, as the intervention can easily be integrated into their routine follow-up. However, patient intrinsic and extrinsic factors may be barriers to quitting smoking. Conclusion: there is a need to make progress both in the identification of smoking during pregnancy, and in the interventions that should follow. This requires adequate training of health professionals in the implementation of the 5A model, and coordination between first and second line actors.
