Mucoviscidose et santé orale : guide de prise en charge à destination du chirurgien-dentiste

Abstract : Cystic fibrosis is the most common and lethal autosomal recessive genetic disease in the Caucasian population. Resulting in numerous clinical and metabolic manifestations, this pathology is however very often unrecognized by dentists. The aim of this thesis is to provide additional information about this pathology: whether at the epidemiological, diagnostic, pathophysiological but also clinical levels. In a part more focused on bacteriology, it will also deal with the pathogenesis of infectious agents and the potential role of the dental surgeon in this contamination within the dental office. Based on a narrative review of the literature, exploring the oral consequences of this pathology, the impact of the dentist in the prognosis of the disease will be studied. The main objective of this work is to develop a guide for the management of patients with cystic fibrosis intended for general dentists and to raise awareness among medical teams of the importance of dental follow-up.
