La prévention primaire et secondaire des tendinopathies du membre inférieur chez le danseur professionnel

Abstract : Recurrent tendinopathy of the lower limb (LLT) is very common among professional dancers (PD). Today, there is no optimal management of this complex injury. This could be in part due to the absence of preventive measures across dance companies and among health care providers. To test these hypotheses, we used a survey to evaluate the impact of LLT preventive measures and training among PD. Methods : a self-reported questionnaire was sent online to network of PD from November 2020 to January 2021. This questionnaire was developed using LimeSurvey version 2.64.1 and consisted of mostly closed (yes/no) questions. Univariate and bivariate analyses were done. Results : only 38 PD responded to the survey. Of the 38 PD, 18 % reported to have direct access to a physical therapist (PT). Of them, 57 % reported to have followed LLT preventive care through a PT. Preventive measures were set forth in 57 % of the cases. Of them, 29 % reported that their non-optimal LLT rehabilitation was mostly due to the lack of interdisciplinary communication. Conclusion : most PD do not seem to benefit from preventive therapy to reduce LLT risk. There is a need for expert consensus and collaboration towards preventive measures to achieve optimal outcomes in PD. Our survey opens the avenue to larger confirmatory studies including PD, health care providers and dance company managers.
