Electroconvulsivothérapie et anticoagulants : étude naturalistique observationnelle

Abstract : The concomitant use of anticoagulant therapy with ECTs may increase the suspected bleeding risk of ECT. It constitutes a relative contraindication to treatment with ECT. Monocentric observational naturalistic study, carried out at the Nantes University Hospital, evaluating 38 patients included, who received ECT between 2016 and 2020 and taking concomitant anticoagulant and / or antiplatelet therapy. No serious hemorrhagic accident, in particular cerebral, was noted. Two spontaneously resolved bleeds were observed in two patients during their treatment with ECT. At the same time, despite taking appropriate treatment, four thromboembolic events were identified in this study.
