La bienveillance au service du bien-être et de la réussite scolaire

Abstract : Benevolence is a recent concept, which only began to appear in educational discourse in 2012. It is strongly imposed in our educational system through various documents emanating from the government. However, often poorly defined, and misunderstood, it remains for some, harmful, demagogic, and lax. Through multiple scientific readings, I was able to clarify its definition and its implementation in teaching. The caring teacher is indulgent while being demanding. He constantly evaluates his students in order to offer them appropriate answers. He develops a positive school climate, by providing a safe environment. He enhances the well-being of his students by managing their conflicts and emotions. He considers the heterogeneity of its pupils and takes advantage of it, through cooperative practices. Based on this observation, I introduced all these practices in my own classroom, and measured their effects through a logbook, a questionnaire, and an assessment of school performance. The analysis of these results showed the benefits of these attitudes on the well-being and on the academic success of my pupils.
