La santé des médecins hospitaliers des départements du Calvados, de la Manche et de l’Orne : évaluation de leur participation aux différents actes de prévention et de dépistage recommandés en médecine générale

Abstract : The health of the doctor is a subject that raises questions for its impact on the doctor and the healthcare system. The objective of this study is to assess the adherence of hospital physicians to the main recommended prevention and screening actions in the general population. We carried out a quantitative descriptive observational study based on an online questionnaire sent to the mailing lists for physicians practicing in the GHTs of the departments of Calvados, Manche and Orne. The recommendations studied followed mainly on the recommendations of the HAS and the Swiss prevention program EVIPREV. Out of 2.624 questionnaires sent out, 499 were returned complete. 49% of the doctors questioned have declared a colleague as attending physician. There are few active smokers and high-risk alcohol users compared to the general population. 30% are overweight. Hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemias are generally detected. Mandatory and recommended vaccinations are carried out. Women eligible for breast and uterine cancer (CCU) screening were respectively 81% to have performed a screening mammogram and 71% to have participated in screening for CCU less than 3 years ago. Only 44% of doctors eligible for colorectal cancer screening (CRC) say they have got a screening test less than 3 years ago. Doctors who declared an attending physician participate more in screening for CRC (71.4% vs. 40% p=0.002). These findings should lead to a review of the method of delivery of screening kits and the comfort of the interest of an independent attending physician.
