Évaluation de la croissance mandibulaire par la modélisation 3D

Abstract : Mandibular growth is a complex phenomenon that has been studied extensively by ENLOW and MOSS in the 20th century. It depends on the primary growth potential of the condylar cartilage but also on adaptive growth capacities in response to the environment. It is thus defined by phenomena of bone apposition and resorption. On the other hand, the evolution of techniques and the progress in the computer field make it possible to apprehend more precisely this phenomenon. Mandibular growth has always been analyzed on 2D radiographs; 3D modeling make possible a three-dimensional analysis. This analysis provides more precise information, essential for planning orthodontic treatment.
