Master Thesis

Jeu et apprentissage à l’école primaire

Abstract : The subject matter of this dissertation is to know if the game facilitates mathematics’ school-bases learning for the first-grade students. After reading scientific litterature, we can say that the game is a good teacher’s instrument. Indeed, it allows a better appropriation of the notions for the students. The objective of this dissertation is to show that a cooperative game can ameliorate location and displacement skills for the first-grade students. Precisely, this is location’s coding and decoding skills on a grid pattern who are working with the students. In this experimentation there is a first-grade class with twenty-two students (ten girls and twelve boys) who are between six and seven years old. The class is separate in two groups: the test group who works the skills with a game and the control group who works the same skills with a more traditional pedagogy. The observation and the student’s exercises show us a better amelioration of the location’s coding and decoding skills for the test group. Moreover, during the experimentation they are more invested, implicated, and diligent than the control group. Finally, game allows a best amelioration student’s skill when it is used at school because the game is a motivational vector. Furthermore, the game allows to work in situation the different notions who are study with the pupils.
