The conditions of sustainability of collective action: the case of the Pomaïrol’s mill
Les conditions de durabilité de l'action collective : le cas du Moulin de Pomaïrol
Résumé
This apprenticeship report describes and analyzes the collective takeover of a stone flour production activity. Composed of several mills, this activity was, until 3 years ago, a workshop on a breeding farm. At first, it was managed by an association under the law of 1901, and composed mainly of suppliers and customers. Because of the wish of the breeder to withdraw from the activity, it was finally taken over by the collective composed of the historical members of the association. The collective is marked by a common vision of the agricultural world, and poses as the bearer of an alternative solution to a dominant system deemed unsatisfactory. Its vision and its common reasons for action are explained in this report.
My apprenticeship position consisted in accompanying this collective recovery: trying to organize the moments and the assembly of information so that the collective could structure itself in terms of governance and make decisions, with the final objective of making the flour production process more fluid.
From this learning experience spread over 3 years (with a frequency of presence in the collective close to a professional half-time), I propose here the account of some examples of actions of accompaniment of the collective, and a beginning of analysis of the conditions of perenniality of the collective action in this association " Le moulin de Pomaïrol ". In particular, it is proposed that this association be equipped with collective action tools that will allow it to carry out its planned actions through better organization, dissemination and use of information.
