An investigation into the contemporary situation of South Asians in Britain. Takes a longitudinal perspective, dicussing British colonial policies, early attitudes towards immigration, and the rise of British nationalism in the 1960' and 1970'. Continues into the modern day with remarks on race relations, the politics of multiculturalism, and emerging immigrant voices. Also includes an analysis of specific challenges for british Muslims.
