Diagnostic du retard de croissance intra-utérin

Abstract : Introduction: Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) is a frequent pathology. Its screening and diagnoses is essential for an adapted care. Because it's a pathology associated with a not insignificant foetal mortality and morbidity associated.

Objectives: Our study examines the causative factors, the means of diagnosis of IUGR and the incidence of this diagnosis (clinical, ultrasound, etiologic) done or not, in the prenatal monitoring of pregnancy, delivery modalities and Neonatal short term prognosis.

Method: Our study focuses on 103 cases of newborns with IUGR at birth, born in January 2009 to June 30, 2010.

Results: The main cause of IUGR is vascular (43.7% of IUGR in the study). The unexplained IUGR case files represent 31.1% of the study. The search for risk factors and maternal conditions, which may act on fetal growth, is essential. Ultrasound is currently the preferred technique for assessing fetal growth. The measurement of uterine size is an effective method for detection of IUGR, sensitivity in our study is 81%. The terms of delivery depends on whether the diagnosis of IUGR was made or not and especially prenatal etiology which will also influence the short-term neonatal prognosis. The cesarean mode of delivery is the most common.

Conclusion: Screening and diagnosis of IUGR requires special attention during pregnancy follow that the diagnosis remains, at present, imperfect. The search for risk factors of maternal conditions that may act on fetal growth is important, as well as ultrasound monitoring that should be overlooked the value of the measurement of uterine height. Heightened surveillance is framed the vascular IUGR higher risk of decompensation.
