Santé bucco-dentaire et grossesse : rôle des sages-femmes dans la prévention en santé bucco-dentaire chez la femme enceinte

Abstract : The oral diseases can cause adverse events during pregnancy type of preterm delivery, fetal hypotrophy and preeclampsia. The current recommendations recommend to approach the oral health during the antenatal interview of the 4th month of pregnancy. Our study consisted in estimating the sensibility of the midwives in front of the oral health, the prevention made with their patients and in estimating the interest of an information brought by a wafer. The study was conducted among midwives in the Bordeaux region. Two questionnaires self-completed and an information brochure were distributed to them. It appears that midwives are aware that oral diseases can have a bad influence on pregnancy but they are not preventive and lack of professional training on the subject (the information booklet provided them and confirmed some knowledge). It would be necessary to train correctly the midwives in the questions of prevention in oral health ! to improve the follow-up of pregnant women.
