Interactivité et interactions sur un site d'apprentissage et de réseautage en langues : analyse systémique de l'activité de trois apprenants

Abstract : With Web 2.0, social networking sites for language learning are expanding and are the focus of research in computer assisted language learning. This master's thesis describes and analyses three Chinese students' activity on an SNS for languages (Busuu) in a non formal learning context. In order to comprehend the complexity of this activity, we refer to activity theory, computer mediated communication and second language acquisition. From dynamic screen capture recordings, questionnaires, learning diaries and explicitation interviews, we show that the three learners use quite different learning actions. These actions fluctuate between human-computer interaction and mediated interaction. While HCI as designed in Busuu seems to be rather inappropriate for language learning, in contrast online interaction analysis demonstrates potential for acquisition through mutual learning. Nevertheless, links between formal and non formal learning have to be established to sustain the development of learner autonomy.
