Calcul de la dose efficace cumulée reçue par nos patients en tomodensitométrie diagnostique : création d'un outil informatique pour le médecin généraliste

Abstract : Prescribing CT in general practice is now democratized. However, in France, GPs are not very sensitive to the radiation dose delivered by this review. How to optimize the collection of radiation doses received by the scanner by patients in general practice? A systematic review of the literature, mainly European, was conducted between 1999 and 2012 from Pubmed and sites of national and international radiation protection and medical physics societies. This review has provided a basis of dosimetric data based on anatomical region irradiated and age of the patient. For adults, the 18 selected studies allowed us to determine an effective dose for 60 different CT examinations. For children, 13 studies were selected including 45 different pediatric examinations. From our database, we have created a tool for calculating personal cumulative effective dose received by scanner. This tool collects and adds the effective doses received by CT examinations throughout the patient's life. It can be extended to other diagnostic imaging exams. It is original, ergonomic and easily integrated into a professional software. It allows a first approach to radiation protection of patients and not a precise calculation of the risks that are still being assessed. This tool should be widely disseminated to professionals and the database updated regularly. These tasks could be performed by a university research department or better yet, a public health institute.
