L'intégration des élèves autistes en Éducation Physique et Sportive

Abstract : Since the publication of the guidance law of 2005, a new understanding has developed concerning disability. The education of special needs children is recognized as one of the first missions of the Department for Education. The interministeriel circular of 8 March 2005 pays particular attention to provide for persons affected by autism and of Pervasive Developmental Disorder. Through sport practice, autistic pupils develop their capacity in several fields : communication, sensory-motor skills and socialisation. My research was focused on the question : What pedagogic strategies does the teacher employ to integrate autistic pupils in physical education ? I attempted to answer this question using research papers and choosing two approaches ; observation and an investigative questionnaire. These two protocols allowed me to validate the following hypothesis : the autistic pupil has greater need than other pupils, for the teacher to offer opportunities to expand motor skills. Even though ordinary pupils behave with spontaneity and ease autistic pupils need to be encouraged in order to progress. The teacher offers opportunities on a daily basis to develop their learning and help them to find their place within the class. The teacher defines the pedagogic strategies to allow each pupil to overcome difficiulties in motors skills and cognition.
