Étude du ressenti des patients face aux nouvelles offres de soins primaires en maisons médicales

Abstract : Many studies show that young doctors no more want to exercise alone and multidisciplinary medical practices grow rapidly. But do patients consider that they better fulfill their expectations in primary care than individual practices? The objective of this study was to show that patients were satisfied with the combination of private doctors in multidisciplinary medical practices. We conducted a descriptive, prospective, quantitative and multicentric study in five multidisciplinary medical practices in Isère. Patients were asked to answer a self-administered questionnaire in the waiting room between September 10th 2011 and October 30th 2011. The target population was patients over 16 years who were followed by individual practices and who are now followed by multidisciplinary medical practices. We included 733 patients and the results show that patients do not see a difference between individual practices and multidisciplinary medical practices in terms of "availability and accessibility", "quality of care" and "coordination and continuity of care". Concerning these criteria, patients think that the technical skill and personality of their doctor are more important than the structure itself. In contrast 95% of patients are enthusiastic about the multidisciplinary approach provided by multidisciplinary medical practices and 97.89% of patients are satisfied with this new kind of practice. So, even if the multidisciplinary medical practices grow at the initiative of professionals, patients are satisfied with this new form of practice.
