Associations et dissociations entre orthographes lexicale et grammaticale et compétences cognitives

Abstract : In order to explore relationships between lexical spelling, grammatical spelling and cognitive capacities, we had 116 sixth-grade students pass a series of tests. We observed a strong correlation between phonology, code and lexical spelling. We have also shown that performances in grammatical spelling are correlated to reasoning capacities, working memory, capacity to associate abstract elements and phonology. The study of these differences has allowed us to define different profiles, for which two types of spelling can be associated or dissociated more or less clearly.
