Intérêts écologiques et économiques d'une réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre‎ : application aux aérosols pharmaceutiques

Abstract : Environmental protection has become a priority for Pharmaceutical manufacturers. After a brief review of both global warming, and regulation since the Kyoto protocol, reducing carbon footprint is an understatement to industrial sector. During an internship in a pharmaceutical aerosol company, we worked on reducing the propellant consumption, which is responsible for greenhouse effect. In order to identify the root cause of stock gaps, the aim of the mission was to study the filling chain of metered dose inhaler and the propellant management. Process has been reviewed to define the scope of the study and to indentify weak steps. Thanks to these data, each sector has been investigated. Consumption data measured were compared to the theoretical ones. The root cause of stock gaps was identified. Gaps came from a flowmeter error in one of the filling manufacturing chains. By now, calibration is in progress, to solve the problem. But in case of not matching the expected economical objectives, the alternative would be to get another flowmeter more adequate.
