Le péage urbain. Quelles opportunités pour Veolia Transport ?

Abstract : Congestion charging has been debated for years as a component of urban policies. It is generally designed to contribute to limit congestion in city centres, finance public transport, and improve the quality of urban environment. Several schemes have been achieved in Europe and in Singapore, with objectives and results diverging from one city to another. However, there is not any scheme in operation in France yet, despite the fact that sustainable development has become crucial for politicians. After the media-related success of the London and Stockholm schemes, and in order to anticipate the possible decision to implement such projects in France, Veolia Transport decided to take a stand on congestion charging. This study includes a state-of-the art review of scientific knowledge on congestion charging. Regarding a benchmark of the established schemes, it proposes ways of strategic positioning for Veolia Transport.
