Prise en charge nutritionnelle du patient hypertendu

Abstract : Hypertension is now a public health problem because it involves about 15 to 16 million French and is the leading cause of cardiovascular disease. In addition, for some cases of hypertension, there is resistance to treatment. The objective for 2025 committee against hypertension is to reach 70% of patients tested. Nutrition could contribute to achieving this objective, but how and what benefits can you expect? One of the risk factors well known for its adverse effects on blood pressure is high salt intake. So, one of the objectives of WHO is to reduce the average salt intake to 5 g per day by 2015. The Group SALT trying to create collaborations between different organizations (government, WHO, AFSSA, industrialists, craftsmen ...). What benefits can we expect on blood pressure? How can we get there? Are there protective nutrients able to intervene in the regulation of blood pressure and optimize the health benefits of nutritional prevention? Among these nutrients, calcium, magnesium and potassium seem to be good candidates for correcting abnormalities in blood pressure. The aim of this work is to answer these questions and show how the pharmacist can intervene in the nutritional management of hypertensive patients.
