Les troubles du sommeil au troisième trimestre de la grossesse

Abstract : Sleep disorders in the third trimester of pregnancy. Objectives: The objectives of our study are to establish the prevalence of sleep disorders, identify the nature of these disorders and the proposed remedy, as well as the women's degree of satisfaction. We also tried to identify the midwives' knowledge in that field. Material and methods: We conducted a cross-sectional, descriptive, monocentric study based on two questionnaires, one addressed to expectant mothers and the other one to midwives. The study was performed at Port-Royal maternity hospital, from August to December 2012. Results: Sleep disorders during pregnancy are frequent, especially in the third trimester. Most of the time, they are disorders such as insomnia, generally due to small inconveniences of pregnancy. It seems important to ask women about their sleep quality, and solve the disorders through the most suitable means. On the other hand, when the midwife's proposals are not sufficient, it will be necessary to direct the patient to a specialist to make sure to find the best solution.
