Analyse de gènes potentiellement impliqués dans la résistance basale du pommier à Venturia inaequalis

Abstract : Apple is the first fruit in France in terms of production as well as consumption. Because of its strong economic impact, it is important to reduce pesticides while maintaining high productivity on apple. Therefore, current breeding programs aim to create varieties with more durable resistance, by combining partial resistances. These are quantitative and broad-spectrum resistances in wich basal resistance is the first line of inducible defense. However, the mechanisms underlying basal resistance are often unknown. Through analysis of the expression of apple genes potentially involved in basal resistance, the aim was to study a such resistance in the 'Fiesta' variety, partially resistant to scab, compared to the 'Gala' variety, sensitive, and to the rootstock 'MM106'. Expression analysis of FLS2, LYM1, LYM3, CERK1, CEBiP, WAK1, PEPR1, BAK1, MPK3 and MPK6 has revealed higher expression in 'Fiesta' than in 'Gala' for the majority of these genes. This result is consistent with the hypothesis checked in rice/Magnaporthe grisea pathosystem that preformed expression of defense genes is globally stronger in partial resistant variety than in sensitive ones. Moreover, analysis of Venturia inequalis post-inoculation expression of CEBiP, WAK1, PEPR1, BAK1, MPK3 and MPK6 showed a global repression of these genes in the three genotypes. This result seems to indicate that some effectors of Venturia inequalis targets and repressed basal resistance genes in apple to favor the infection.
