Évaluation multicritère de prototypes de systèmes de culture innovants à bas niveau d'intrants dans le Sud-Ouest de la France : approche comparative d'une démarche a priori et a posteriori

Abstract : Since 2010, the INRA Toulouse has coordinated the ANR MicMac Design project. The major objective of the latter is to design innovative cropping systems based on the principles of integrated pest management as well as to evaluate their performance. A conception method by prototyping has been implemented and allowed to build 11 systems which are currently being tested in the field. After three years of experimentation, an assessment process based on a priori and a posteriori analysis is presented in this paper. The first stake was to characterize the performance of the prototypes 1) by determining their ability to reach specific aims, which were defined at the beginning of the project, and 2) by assessing, through the MASC model, their contribution to the economic, social and environmental dimension of sustainability. The second stake, more methodological, was to study the particular advantage of each assessment method and their complementarity nature. Two groups of systems were distinguished: first, systems (close to the reference) which surpass the performances of the reference and second, disruptive systems which involve some innovative techniques and whose performance is decreased in comparison to the reference. The performance of these systems is quite difficult to assess a priori. Indeed, references about such techniques are still rare. The two assessment methods are thus complementary: a priori assessment allows revealing the prototypes weaknesses and fixing them before the prototypes being implemented in fields. The a posteriori assessment seems to be firstly necessary to confirm the a priori assessment and secondly to detect some technical difficulties due to the practical implementation of innovative cropping systems.
