The transposition of the Common European Framework for Languages in the French Official Instructions and in the textbooks regarding English grammar teaching

Abstract : This dissertation intends to examine the transposition of the CEFR in the French official instructions for Palier 2 and in three textbooks for 4e, concerning English grammar teaching with the example of the preterit. This work concerns the way the CEFR tackles grammar teaching, the changes generated, and the influence of the CEFR on the official instructions and in the textbooks. This study offers a reflexion on the place of grammar in the instructions and on the way the authors of textbooks contextualize the grammatical approach in the action-oriented approach, in terms of grammar knowledge and skills, grammar awareness and concerning the place of grammar in communicative activities and in the final task. This study is enriched by a contrastive analysis with old official instructions and an old textbook published before the CEFR adoption in France.
